Joelle Alvarez outdoors near a lake

I was born and raised in Mexico City in a French-Mexican family. I studied psychology and worked in the field in Mexico before moving to Los Angeles, where I lived for 15 years. I have now been living in Toulouse for six years.

Having rebuilt my own life across different countries and cultures, I understand that moving abroad involves much more than logistics. It can affect the way we communicate, relate to others, make decisions, and understand ourselves.

Today, I bring together my academic background, lived intercultural experience, and knowledge of everyday life in France to offer coaching and practical orientation to people preparing for a move or already building a life in the country.

Not sure what kind of support you need?

his short, free self-assessment can help you recognize which aspects of adapting to life in France currently feel most unclear or challenging: practical orientation, cultural adjustment, your sense of belonging, decision-making, or simply the need to sort through what you are experiencing.

By the end, you will have a clearer idea of where to focus your attention and what kind of support could be useful to you. It is not a psychological test and does not provide a diagnosis.

Takes approximately 3 minutes.
